Lladro Figurines by Jamie Hayon
Thirty-eight year old Spanish born Lladro Figurines designer Jamie Hayon has a new collection of Lladro figurines titled The Guest. This is the second complete collection of Lladro figurine products produced by Jamie Hayon. The first was Fantasy collection by Jamie Hayon. Designer Hayon has worked with Lladro since 2006. Recently he served as art director and designer for Lladro. Previously he was head of Design Department for Fabrica. On his own he designed collections of designer toys, ceramics, furniture, vases, lamps, and Swarovski lighting fixtures.
Clearly his Lladro figurines are not your grandmothers angel figurines. He brings a new modern hip design element to ceramic products. Bold and whimsical might be better adjectives to describe his Fantasy and The Guest Lladro collections. Perhaps his teenage years as a graffiti artist has resurfaced? In 2008, Jaime was guest of honor at Belgium’s Interieur Biennial, the youngest person ...

In 2008, Jaime was guest of honor at Belgium’s Interieur Biennial, the youngest person ever to receive the accolade.

Jamie Hayon’s client list included Swarovski, adidas, artquitect edition, BD barcelona, benetton, bisazza, camper, coca-cola, danone group, metalarte, palluco, and piper heidsieck.

Hayon’s figurine shape designs were brought to life by American artist ceramic sculpter Tim Biskup and Japanese studio Devilrobots to apply surface paint and descoration. Each piece is part of a limited edition sometimes as few as 250 pieces. The project is totally in tune with the founding mission of Lladró Atelier, a space set aside for the creativity of the brand’s in-house designers as well as external artists who bring new ideas to the world of porcelain. With this collaboration, The Guest becomes a kind of platform where artists from various different disciplines work alongside the world’s leading brand in the creation and commercialization of art porcelain, which puts all its potential at the service of creativity.

The large Guest figurines stand 20 inches tall on a lacquered wood base. They sell for $2800 a piece featuring sport crazy eyes, a skull shirt, and tattooed face. The Smaller Guests stand 12 inches tall and continue with a collaboration of Devilrobots, Hayon, and Biskup. They sell for $775 each.

Lladro hopes to exceed the wildly popular Fantasy product line which included porcelain jewelry, vases, and figurines. The Guest hopes to rival Lladro’s best selling piece ever titles Flowers of the Season back in 1983.

Rosa Lladro and Tim Biskup will unveil the line in Los Angeles at Unici Casa of Culver City on hMarch 13th.

The look of glass, ceramic, and silver wares for the table and for decoration changed with the application of new practices. Mold-pressed glass became widespread early in the century and glassworkers used the technique to create jardinieres and vases. Ceramic manufacturers employed transfer printing to decorate dinner and tea wares, affordable alternatives to hand-painted ceramics. Silver tablewares gleamed with a thin coating of silver applied by electroplating, the fusing of the precious metal to a base metal after fabrication. New processes, as well as modifications and rediscoveries of old techniques, allowed an upsurge of options and styles, attainable for the average person.

Pressed glass, transfer-printed ceramics and silver produced by firms such as Sowerby Glassworks, Josiah Wedgwood and Sons, Minton Pottery and Porcelain Factory, and Elkington and Company will be on view. MASS PRODUCED will highlight rich examples of nineteenth-century British decorative arts in NOMA’s collection and explore the fascinating relationships between design, technology, and mass production.

Ele Chesney, a millionaire rare automotible collector, has placed a rare Lalique Figurine collection of car mascot hood ornaments up for auction at the famed Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance in Florida on March 10, 2012. The estimated value of the 30 Lalique crystal glass figurines collection and display case could sell for $1.2 million or more according to RM Auctions. The Amelia Island event is a world wide rare automotible collectors event with many fine automobiles up for auction by RM. Lalique figurines auction featuring these car mascot figurines are rare as less than 7 collections are possible.

Rene Lalique was a noted French jeweler and master artist who saw the niche market for glass crystal hood ornaments for wealthy clients. Clients who were purchasing new fine automobiles such as Bentley, Bugatti, Mercedes-Benz, and Hispano-Suiza. Lalique by the time of his death i 1945 was the foremost producer of glass crystal figurines in the world.

Between 1920 and 1931 Lalique produced 30 designs featured in his 1932 Lalique catalog. Know as car mascots the hood ornaments proved impractical for use on the vehicles due to damage, theft, chipping, and fracturing. Hood ornaments at the time were also used as radiator caps. Once removed from the vehicles they became practical figurine collectibles and fine paperweights.

The rare 30 piece collection is rarely available for sale as only a handful are known to exist. The rarest piece named Renard the Fox only had six figurines known to remain in existence. As records were destroyed in WWII it is now believed that Lalique only made 10 of the frosted glass Renard Fox figurines. Renard Fox figurine sold for $325,000 alone in the early 1990′s.

René Lalique was born on April 6, 1860 in Ay, France. In 1885 he opened a workshop, and his unique style of jewelry gained widespread renown with the incorporation of flowing majestic plant, animal and human forms in his works. He further enhanced his designs with the use of horn, ivory, pearl, coral, enamel, plastic or glass in-laid with semi-precious stones. Lalique’s creations drew the attention of prominent personalities such as Sarah Bernhardt, the leading actress of her day. For Lalique to have her as a major client was to draw a wellspring of other affluent and influential personages to his creations. By 1900, at the Paris Exposition Universelle, his innovative exhibit attracted vast crowds, and demand for his work placed him at the pinnacle of success in the field of jewelry. Rejecting complacency, Lalique embraced new challenges. He had already experimented with glass in jewelry making and, by age 50, conceived a new goal of becoming a master glassmaker. The achievement of this goal would gain him worldwide fame that continues today. Lalique opened a small glass shop near the famous perfumer Francois Coty, for whom he began creating classic perfume bottles. Soon, he was engaged by D’Orsay, Forvil, Rogeret et Gallet and many others. In all, Lalique created more than 250 different bottles, some with collector values that currently exceed $100,000.

Like so many other artists from the 1880s through the 1920s, Lalique recognized the need to bring art into everyday life. The only way to accomplish this was to begin mass production of stemware, tableware, inkwells, clocks and vases. At the height of production, Lalique employed 600 people in his glass factories. These skillful artisans created millions of pieces of glassware, many “personalized” with highlight polishing, frosting and glazing for a trademark presentation of individualized attention.

Recent Lalique figurine Renard Fox discovered

In November 2011, Wiederseim Assosicates and auction house in Pennsylvania was selected to auction items from the Dupont estate. John Dupont was the millionaire son of William Dupont of Dupont chemical fame. John died in 2010 following a prison sentence for murder in 1997. The Dupont estate was known as Foxcatcher and contained many items with the symbol of the fox. Also Dupont collected fox figurines with hundreds available for auction by Wiederseim. There were four figurines believed to be knockoffs of the famous Renard Fox. However collectors soon discoved that one was an actual Lalique Renard Fox figurine. Instead of selling for the estimated $100 value it was bid up by 11 British and American bidders to over $204,000. So now there are 7 Renard Fox’s known to exist.

When added to the other 29 the complete collection of 30 Lalique Car Mascot figurines would sell for around one million dollars. The Ele Chesney Lalique Figurine collection is believe to be one of the best maintained collectons with a specially designed display case which individually lights up each figurine piece.

There, she hoped to defeat the one responsible for crippling her brother. But, by leaving the secretive ninja clan, she became a nukenin (runaway shinobi), so every day she must live on the run from her former comrades.

Hatsune Miku Sexy Anime Girl Vocaloid Figurine :

Hatsume Miku Female Anime Figurines

The cute and clever Lat-type Miku is joining the figure world! The popular 3D CG of model of Miku created by Lat for the program ‘MikuMikuDance’ nicknamed the ‘Lat-type’ Miku is getting her very own 1/8th scale PVC rendition! This version of Miku features a couple of key differences that have been carefully recreated to keep the fresh feeling of Lat-type Miku – she is wearing a larger set of headphones, and instead of a ’01′ tattoo on her arm she has a red ring. The chain on her dress also boasts a unique checkered design. Another feature unique to Lat-type Miku is her red-rimmed glasses, which give her a whole new kind of charm… but they can also be removed if you’d prefer to have some of the standard Miku back. Lat-type Miku has been placed in a very dynamic pose that recreates the bouncy feeling of a MikuMikuDance – you can enjoy the dance on your desk whenever you want!

In Neon Genesis Evangelion, a movie with lots of attractive female characters in tight suits, there appears to be no female character that is loved by fans more than Rei. Rei will suck you in with her red eyes, blue hair, and super tight white and black suit. Several great chicks co-exist in Neon Genesis Evangelion, but none is more loved by fans than Rei. With her blue hair, red eyes and tight suit, this first child is super sexy!

Truly, anime-zing figure! Rei Ayanami is a withdrawn and sometimes cold woman, but she’s destined to become one of the hottest figures available anywhere. From the hit series Neon Genesis Evangelion, this extremely desirable 6-inch tall collectible not only looks incredible, but has more articulation than ever before. Sculpted by the brilliant Enoki Tomohide using an innovative joint/body system known as ‘E.L.F.,’ the astonishing release demonstrates a wide variety of realistic poses unlike any other PVC action figure. With the Lance of Longinus, 2 sets of extra hands, and a display base, this remarkable Rei has everything she needs to pilot her Unit 00 to adventure or simply look fantastic on your desk.

You can find Saber in the anime Fate/Stay Night. Saber is crazy agile and powerful warrior. She is so focused on her goals that she suppresses her emotions and comes across as cold hearted at times. Beautiful action power! Figma Saber is here!
From “Fate/stay night” comes the ultimate servant, Saber! She arrives gallantly as a popular “figma” action figure! – The new joint parts allow for a smooth look, yet poseable movements, allowing you to pose many different scenes. – A flexible plastic is used, allowing the proportions to be kept, without compromising the posability. – Excalibur and Caliburn are both included with their scabbards, allowing them to be sheathed. – Three face parts, as well as multiple hand parts are included, so you can make as many varied positions as you like. – Alternate fringe parts are also included, allowing even more realistic action positions. – Comes with a poseable figma stand that makes it possible to create and keep various action poses.

Beginners Guide to Anime Conventions

If you are going to attend Anime Boston 2012 we make the following recommendations:

Safety: Boston is a huge metropolitan city. Pay special attention to your safety when outside the convention. This means your hotel, transportation, and restaurants should be chosen with care as you might in any major city. Of course walking alone especially at night should be avoided. While inside the convention you will meet people who may or may not have your interests at heart. Protect your identification and money. I caution against providing too much personal information to those persons you just meet. I also caution against sharing drinks, food, or pills with those you just met. Finally, your cell phone needs to be kept charged.

Pre-Register or Register Early: Avoid the longest lines by registering online which also has the lowest costs to attend the event.

Attend with Friends: Friends are a great resource for safety, fun, information, and companionship while attending an anime convention. Also they can help with makeup, cosplay, directions, or even money should something happen. Budget your Money: Anime Convention are great fun but generally are not cheap entertainment. It is not unusual to spend $200 on anime figurines, costumes, collectibles, dvds, art work, or any of the other items available at the swap meet or through artists alley. Staying within your budget will provide you the best opportunity to have fun throughout the entire event.

Expect Long Lines: Some of the longest lines you will find occur at anime events. Expect them and plan for them so you see all the event you want to see.

Plan your Days: A little planning will insure you see all the events you want to see. Arriving two minutes before your most wanted event generally will mean disappointment. Also remember to plan for meals, water, transportation, showering, and sleep time. Forgetting to eat or sleep will ruin your event and health for the Saturday and Sunday sessions. Carry bottled water with you each day of the event.

Bring Identificatin: Identification will be checked upon entering the convention center and at many of the individual events. It is mandatory that each person have their own proper picture identification with them. Read the identification policy to avoid problems. I would bring more than just a drivers license. Government issued picture identification such as legal State ID, college ID, or drivers licenese are generally some of the best ID’s to have with you. Sharing ID’s or fake ID’s will get you banned from the event. Note that many evening events are restricted to those 18 years or older. Those attending daytime events under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Weather: Plan on it being warm, cold, wet, windy, humid, both inside and outside the event. Weather can always be a factor in enjoying your event. Plan for the worst. Bringing an umbrella, plastic poncho, or jacket can save your event.

Cosplay: You do not need to dress up for Anime Boston. However if you do want to cosplay have your costume ready well in advance of the event. Do not try to sew the costume the night before the event. Plan on problems by bringing a small sewing kit, masking tape, hair dryer, and both dress and comfortable shoes. Give some thoughts on where you will change into your costume.

Make Friends: Part of the fun at an anime conention is the variety of people you will meet at the events. Open up and talk to those around you. You will meet some interesting people and share some wonderful stories. Also the event staff can be a great resource for event information, directions, and advice.

Event Variety: Even if you enjoy the game room or artists alley you should not spend all your time in your favorite area. Anime convention offer a number of ways to expand your enjoyment of anime. Spending all you time in one area may be fun in the short term but frequenting a number of activites will give you a better opportunity to explore anime and meet people.

Room Arrangements: This is a large event in a major city. Hotel rooms are not cheap downtown. Do not arrive in Boston without having your room arrangements registered at the hotel of your choice. The 2012 event is held on Easter weekend which may or may not make booking a hotel easier. If you choose a hotel not downtown you will want to plan for travel time, directions, and parking into your budget and timeline. Boston also has bus and subway transportation which you may want to consider.

Cameras: You are encouraged to bring your cameras. Note however some activities have picture taking restrictions.
